Cup to lure top futsal players to Lismore

ORGANISERS are hoping to attract top nationwide junior and senior futsal talent to the region later this year for an action-packed tournament.

Christened the Lismore Cup, the projected indoor soccer competition aims to feature teams from across Australia in different age groups.

The event will build on the successful FNC NSW Futsal regional Challenge, which took place at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre over the weekend.

Regional co-ordinator Robyn Lawrence said she was hopeful the contest, which has been provisioanlly pencilled in for October, could take place.

"I am really excited," she said.

"It will be great to bring players from different areas here and show them what we have got to offer.

"Hopefully it will be brilliant."

Further details will be released soon.

More than 30 junior, youth and senior teams took part in the weekend's indoor soccer competition at the Gonneallabah Sports and Aquatic Centre.
