WATCH: Bay actor a finalist for $1M Super Bowl ad comp
HUNDREDS of millions of people across the world could soon come to know the face of Point Vernon's Josh Buckle.
Josh, 30, and his acting skills are featured in an entry into a competition for the next Doritos chip commercial, the winner of which will be played at the 2016 Super Bowl game, and will also be broadcast on television.
The hilarious ad, directed by Gold Coast man Thomas Price, has made the top 50 entries into the competition, with Josh featured as the main character.
"Basically there's a tourist group going through the forest being led by a very typical Australian tour guide, who is telling us about the 'rare Dorito moth'," Josh said.
"We find the beautiful moth and as the tour guide's talking I grab it, throw it in my mouth and start chewing and everyone's so shocked."
Josh said making the finals of the competition was worth the seven-hour drive to the Gold Coast for filming.
"We were all sliding around in the mud for hours, but thanks to movie magic it looks so pristine and beautiful."
He said the thought of being viewed by 114 million people who watch the Super Bowl every year gave him mixed emotions.
"Because I'm a local writer in a small town, you do anything you can do to get your name out there and this is a really good promotion for me," he said.
"But then I could be in front of millions and millions of people in this horrible, blue Hawaiian shirt."
As this year is expected to be the last time Doritos and the Super Bowl run the competition, this year's prize is a massive $1 million cash and a contract with DC comic movie director Zack Snyder.
"But I'm trying to stay grounded until we know if we've gotten any further."
He said the top three finalists will be announced in February next year.
"The top three get to go to the Super Bowl for a week."
Dorito Moth is currently one of the top viewed entries into the competition.
Voting for the entries begins on January 5, 2016.
