Cricket turns to girls for competition

FNC girls bitten by the cricketing bug can sign up for fun-packed competition.

Ballina District Junior Cricket Association is aiming to host a tournament for cricket-loving girls next season.

The Little Breakers League will provide enjoyable play for females aged seven-14.

School sides and other teams are welcome to play in the proposed contest, which has been endorsed by Cricket New South Wales and will run alongside the current Twenty20 Ballina Bing Bash tournament.

It will feature a modified short-games format, loud music and plenty of other entertainment.

Anyone wanting more information should call Ballina District Junior Cricket Association president Craig Jenkins on 0407 787 775 or email jenkins96@live.com.au.

More details are also available from Colin Earl on 0419 608 775 or via email cea10605@bigpond.net.au.

Meanwhile, places are still available for the MILO T20 Blast School Holiday events at Lismore and Ballina.

The two-day events will both provide short matches and plenty of fun for boys and girls aged 8-12.

Lismore's Oakes Oval will host the first event, starting Monday. Action then switches to Ballina on the Wednesday.
