Cricket: Junior Twenty20 Big Bash to come

JUNIOR Twenty20 cricket will come to Oakes Oval, Lismore, on Sunday with the inaugural Coast vs Country Junior T20 Big Bash Challenge.

The day, organised by the Far North Coast Junior Cricket Council, will bring together the best young players in the region.

Matches will be played under 20-overs-a-side rules with a white ball and shortened boundaries.

Under-12s (10am start) will be followed by the Under-14s (2pm) then the Under-16 match under lights (6pm).

FNCJCC president Barry Cooper hopes the T20 challenge will become an annual event.

"It will give the players an opportunity to play T20 cricket like the big boys at Lismore's premier cricket ground using a white ball and under lights," he said.

"We should see some sensational cricket on Sunday by some talented young local cricketers."

Entry to the ground will be free.
