Crash to end season

CELEBRATIONS were short-lived for Mackay motocross rider Joel Dinsdale despite topping the leaderboard of the national Super X championships at Campbelltown on Saturday night.

He now sits on top of the leaderboard in the 14-15 years junior division after claiming an impressive win, bouncing back from a sixth place in Melbourne - but is unlikely to finish the season due to injury.

Dinsdale's celebrations ceased when he fell after the finish line and injured himself.

He will now be out for the remainder of the series while his shoulder recovers.

Dinsdale is a member of the Yamaha Junior Racing Team, and he shares the lead in the points race with Bill Jackson from Victoria at the halfway mark of the championships.

Jackson will lead the championship into round four at Maitland this weekend after another consistent performance.

He locked down fourth place at the weekend and combined with his second at Melbourne, now has 40 points, the same as Dinsdale.

Another factory rider, Sam Duncanson carded a fifth in the under-19 class on Saturday night as he charged his way forward after an average start.

With one lap to go he was in a three-way duel for the final podium spot but ultimately couldn't make the passes stick and had to settle for fifth.

Luke Arbon's night also looked promising as he contested the Pro Lites category on his GYTR Rockstar Yamaha YZ250F.

Arbon was seventh in race one of the triple challenge, fourth in race two and was inside the top five in points heading into the final race.
