Crash outside Uncle Tom’s Pies near Mullum

TWO elderly people have been taken to hospital after a two car collision on the corner of Mullumbimby Rd and Gulgan Rd opposite Uncle Tom's Pies.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the scene of the crash just after 2pm this afternoon.

The two patients who were later transported to Tweed Hospital were conscious and breathing but complained of back and chest pains.

Both patients were from the same vehicle.

Witnesses said the car driven by the pair was travelling in a northbound direction along Gulgan Rd towards Brunswick Heads when it apparently struck another car turning out of Mullumbimby St.

It also struck the guard rail outside Uncle Tom's a few moments later.

The two patients were reported to be in a stable condition.

The driver of the second vehicle did not require medical attention.
