‘Crafty day’ big success

EVANS Head Recreational Hall was abuzz last Saturday morning with all things crafty and more.

The annual CWA Market Day that brings clubs together from all over the Northern Rivers and despite heatwave conditions, they received a good turn-out, according to group president Janet Twohill.

"There are 18 clubs represented here today," she said.

"From Murwillumbah in the north, Woodburn in the south and Urbenville in the west.

"All up there are 18 branches."

Money raised from the market day goes towards the CWA group and maintenance of the CWA-owned units in Evans Head each alternate year.

All the old favourites were there including morning teas, craft and the white elephant stalls.

There was cup-cake decorating for the kids, plants for the garden enthusiast and just a chance for locals CWA members to catch up and have a chat over a coffee.

"The market day is always popular and we get a lot of repeat visitors," Ms Twohill said.

"When we opened this morning there was a line-up at the door waiting to come in."
