Coutts Crossing man named as air crash victim
THE man killed in a plane crash on the Gold Coast on Monday has been identified as Coutts Crossing resident Gary Turnbull.
The Gold Coast Bulletin named Mr Turnbull, aged 58, as the victim after a Tiger Moth aircraft crashed in bushland at Pimpana while on a joy ride flight just after 9am.
It identified the injured pilot as 21-year-old Ryan Campbell, who once held the record as the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world.
Mr Campbell is in a serious condition in Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The newspaper is reporting Mr Campbell worked for Tiger Moth Joy Rides and that the joy ride was a Christmas present to Mr Turnbull from his daughters.
One of Mr Turnbull's daughters is believed to have witnessed the crash from a nearby hangar.
