Couple steals hundreds of thousands worth of diamonds

A WOMAN was wearing an "I love Australia" t-shirt when she and her male companion allegedly stole almost $400,000 worth of rare diamonds from a Sydney jeweller.

The discovery of the missing diamonds and CCTV footage has sparked a search for a couple seen in the inner-city store last Tuesday.

Police allege the woman, believed to be South American and her Indian partner asked to be shown a number of items and, when no one was looking, the man went into the workshop and stole the high-quality jewels.

Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
