Council acts to fix image

THE Lismore City Council is implementing an ‘action plan' to resolve community concerns raised during recent public forums.

In often heated exchanges community members at the forum accused the council of poor financial management, a lack of service culture and shoddy maintenance programs, especially in relation to the area's roads.

“Whether the criticisms were fair or not, that was their perception and we can use this opportunity to address them,” the head of corporate services, Simon Adcock, said.

The action plan aims to improve customer service by better scheduling of works.

It will also make all levels of the council accountable for its performance against key benchmarks.

The council will also produce a newsletter to tell the community what it is doing.
