Cooper lends a cricketing hand

FORMER Lismore junior cricket player of the year Tom Cooper made an unexpected visit to lend a helping hand at the under-12 Interdistrict selection trials in Lismore yesterday.

Cooper, fresh from top scoring with 54 for South Australia in their recent one-dayer against the Queensland Bulls at the Gabba, managed to spend a few days with his family at Corndale before leaving for Melbourne to play in the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria.

The demands upon professional cricketers is significant and Cooper’s presence and words of encouragement to the juniors were welcomed by the aspiring youngsters who started their cricket season this weekend.
