Compensation for woman injured during sex on work trip

A WOMAN who was hit in the face by a glass light fitting while having sex on a work trip has won a compensation battle in Sydney's Federal Court.

The public servant, who can't be named, received facial and psychological injuries during a tryst with a friend at a motel in a country NSW where she had been sent for a meeting in 2007.

Her friend previously told the court he did not know how the light became dislodged as the pair were "going hard" and "rolling around".

Federal workplace authority Comcare launched an appeal against a court ruling that the woman was injured in "in the course of her employment" but it was dismissed on Monday.

The judge found that even if the woman had been "playing a game of cards" in the motel room, she would still have been entitled to compensation.
