Community celebrates park upgrade

NESBITT Park in South Lismore is a facility of which the whole community can be justly proud, and the community celebrated the success of the park today.

“Nesbitt Park has had quite a make-over over the past two years and the resulting improvements and facilities are all thanks to the input from the local community,” Lismore City Council mayor Jenny Dowell said.

“Over the past two years the community has come together to help the council plan, design, source funds and build a first-class park."

There are playgrounds, a covered barbecue area, new practice cricket wickets, seating, connecting pathways, a multi-purpose sports half-court, extra tree plantings, improved drainage, new fencing and spectator mounds for the playing fields.

Local people constructed earthworks, supplied and installed soft-fall ground surfaces, erected fences, formed and poured concrete, created landscaping and connected electrical works.
