Community ball set to dazzle with ‘glitter and gold’.

COMMUNITY sector workers from across the Northern Rivers are getting set to party now that tickets to this month's Summerland Credit Union Community Sector Ball and Awards night are on sale.

With 'Glitter & Gold' as this year's theme, co-ordinator Maire Barron said she was anticipating a fantastic event at Lismore City Hall on November 27as people gather together to applaud the efforts of the region's dedicated community services staff and volunteers.

Dazzling outfits sorted

"One of the fun lead-ups to the evening is everyone getting their fabulous glitter and gold outfits sorted," she said.

"From the dress-up excitement I've heard about so far this event is really going to shine."

Award presentations during the night will pay tribute to the outstanding contributions of individuals and collaborations in the community services sector from Grafton to Tweed Heads.

Wide range of nominations

"The nominations we have gotten are fantastic, with such a wide range of people, services and collaborations being represented," Ms Barron said.

"The independent judges will have a hard job ahead of them."

Summerland Credit Union CEO Margot Sweeny said the credit union was delighted to be involved as the major sponsor of the ball and awards night.

"The Community Sector Ball and Awards night is a fantastic opportunity to reward some of the amazing people who dedicate a substantial amount of time and hard work into the Northern Rivers," She said.

"We are very proud at Summerland to have the chance to be involved with honouring some of the individuals who help shape the lives of those in the local community."

Entertainment included

MC Brandy Le Cointreau will entertain the crowd, plus there will be performances by 80's flashmob dance troupe The Cassettes and local duo Gabriel and Cecilia who struck fame on TV's The Voice with their beautiful harmonies of alternative acoustic folk.

Ms Barron thanked local organisations for pitching in to guarantee a great night, but said more offers of support would always be welcome.

Sponsors gratefully accepted

"We have had such a great level of support from the corporate sector and community service sector to make this event happen, but if you are interested in getting involved we are still seeking sponsorships," she said.

Anyone interested in sponsoring can contact Ms Barron at the Northern Rivers Social Development Council on 0427 291 394.
