Coffee and a newsy chat

BALLINA residents, be warned, Northern Star journalists will be let loose at Cafe Swish this Thursday morning.

The journos will be getting out of their normal office space to have their morning news meeting at the local cafe.

Northern Star editor David Kirkpatrick is inviting members of the public and readers to join us as we talk about what stories our journalists will be working on and how they will go up online.

"We talk about what will go in the paper and people can listen in and help us even choose a front page," he said.

"We did this same news team meeting at the Mecca Cafe in Lismore a while ago and it was quite successful.

"It's a chance for people to be engaged in the news gathering and allocation process and helps us to get out in the community a bit more."

Mr Kirkpatrick said with a changing media landscape more of our readers' own stories were becoming of great interest.

"if people want to know more about the Your Story section of our website they can come along at 9am and see how they can get their stories in the paper," he said.

"We will even shout them a coffee."
