Coach Hill could be on chopping block with Rebels poor form

MELBOURNE Rebels coach Damien Hill is off contract at the end of the Super Rugby season, but he might not last that long.

The struggling Rebels sit 13th after winning just once this season, ironically against Saturday's opponents in Perth, the Western Force.

Hill's team enter the game after arriving home from a troubled tour of South Africa where it lost both games, including a club-record 64-7 drubbing by the Sharks.

The sending home of Wallabies Kurtley Beale and Cooper Vuna after a post-match fight on the team bus, rubbed salt in the already gaping wounds.

Now Hill has his work cut out to keep his job and Rebels' chief executive Steve Boland acknowleged a decision on Hill's future would need to be made soon.

"We've had some discussions with Damien," Boland said.

"The coaching window and player recruitment window can't wait until the end of the season for those sorts of decisions, so we need to make a decision on our coach well before the end of the year."

Vuna is available to play this week, while Beale is suspended indefinitely.
