Club set for 'business end' of surf lifesaving season
LENNOX Head-Alstonville SLSC has assembled one of its largest ever teams to contest the NSW Country Championships at South West Rocks this weekend.
With more than 60 nippers, seniors and masters now signed up, there's been a flurry of training activity as competitors hone and relearn vital skills.
"We are now entering the business end of the season, which kicked off at the end of January with the branch titles at Yamba, before moving into the Country champs then the NSW state titles,” club junior activity co-ordinator Sam Miller said.
"We are really excited to see so many seniors sign on for Lennox this season.
"All of our seniors have come through our nippers ranks and after a period of absence have returned to the club.
"We welcome them back with open arms and it's great for our youngsters to see these U15, U17, U19 and open athletes training on the beach alongside them.
"Our members have been training hard all summer for these events, with a big focus on the Country titles.
"The Country champs are the only event on the calendar that allows all our members to compete, with Under-8s through to 70+ collectively in action on the beach and in the water across a two-day program.
"Our nippers are really stoked to see our seniors and masters going around, and our seniors and masters are stoked to see what our young competitors can do.”
