Clouds over final round

THE last round of FNC mixed softball tonight depends very much on the weather today and the state of the diamonds at Albert Park in Lismore.

Tonight at 8pm is the last chance for teams to try to secure a place in the semi-finals next week.

Goonellabah CCs and Workers Buzzards have streaked away at the top of the ladder but it’s close between the other teams.

Dodgers Coolshots and Byron Bay Dirtysox should play a close game.

Coolshots will be down on players so Dirtysox will be confident. Sam Osborne and Mel Currie are the keys.

Dodgers Hotshots and Casino Misfits also look evenly matched.

In the Under-18s at 6.30pm, Dodgers Bandits will be out to turn the tables on Workers Mighty Ducks.

Expect big games from Mitch Watt and Edward Kelly for Bandits, and Carlie Walker and Sam Green for Ducks.

In the Under-15s at 5pm, Dodgers Lakers and Braves are on top of the ladder. Lakers take on Goonellabah Wildcats, while Braves take on Casino Bluejays.

With leading players such as Hayden Watt, Jess Riley, Sam Osborne, Brodie Groth and Grace Morton spread across the teams, this age division is very interesting.

In the Under-13s at 6.30pm, Dodgers Allstars will dish it up to the young Byron Bay Hotsox. Nick Maloney-Winkler’s experience should lead Allstars home.

Byron Bay Hotsox face Goonellabah Cheetahs, with Jordan Evans and Emily Vidler the key players.
