QLD Nickel donated nearly $300k to PUP before sacking staff

CLIVE Palmer has come under fire after his Queensland Nickel company donated more than $288,000 to the Palmer United Party just weeks before sacking 237 employees.

The redundancies were announced on Friday after the Queensland Government refused to act as guarantor for a $35 million loan.

The Fairfax MP told the ABC the donation was not made on the day it was registered with the Electoral Commission.

He said Queensland Nickel donations to PUP had helped end the carbon tax and consequently saved the refinery millions.
