Palmer donated $200k to LNP in five instalments

BILLIONAIRE miner Clive Palmer donated more than $204,000 to the Coalition in the 2011/12 financial year.

But the conservative side of politics should not expect such a generous contribution from Mr Palmer in the current financial year following his very public falling with the Liberal National Party in Queensland towards the end of last year.

Mr Palmer's donation to the Coalition, revealed on Friday in the Australia Electoral Commission's annual disclosure of political party funding, was made in five instalments.

He gave the LNP $66,000, $6200, $77,000 and $27,500, while a fifth payment of $27,500 was made to the national branch of The Nationals.

The payments were made by Mr Palmer's mining company Mineralogy.

Up until the feud with the LNP Mr Palmer had been a life-long supporter of the Coalition.

At one point last year Mr Palmer was talking about standing against Treasurer Wayne Swan in the Queensland seat of Lilley.
