Clarken has high hopes for miracle filly in Caulfield race

BLUE Diamond favourite Miracles Of Life will have the chance to underline her credentials for the two-year-old classic when she steps out in Saturday's $120,000 Listed Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Fillies Preview (1000m) at Caulfield.

The Not A Single Doubt filly is unbeaten in two starts in Adelaide, romping home by nine lengths last start in a 0-75 2yo handicap over 1050m at Morphettville.

Trained by Daniel Clarken, she is the $7 favourite for the $1million Blue Diamond to be contested at Caulfield on February 23 despite the fact she hasn't been nominated for the race.

The top stables have entered several of their likely Blue Diamond contenders in Saturday's preludes, including the powerful Peter Snowden yard which has nominated boom filly Montsegur in the fillies division.

The filly by New Approach bolted in at her debut over 1000m at Caulfield on December 26, and Melbourne stable foreman Paul Snowden said after Metastasio won impressively at Flemington on Saturday that he believed Montsegur was the pick of their two-year-olds.

The stable has nominated Kuroshio for the colts and geldings prelude on Saturday.

By Exceed And Excel, the colt won the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on debut before running third to Golden Slipper favourite Villa Verde in the Debutante Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 17.

Peter Moody also holds a strong hand in the colts and geldings edition with four of the 15 entries.

Heading Moody's quartet is impressive last start Flemington runner-up Thermal Current, who joins a trio of well-bred debutants including two youngsters by leading first season sire Sebring and another by the all-conquering Fastnet Rock.
