Christmas spirit alive in Caniaba for Jodie's Inspiration
BOYS and girls of Lismore have another opportunity to meet with Santa this Sunday at the very first Jodie's Inspiration Christmas carols.
The Carols at Caniaba will be a family friendly holiday event full of singing, children's activities, a raffle, fireworks, and of course the opportunity to meet and get photos with Santa.
The charity's chairman, Jesse Smith, said he was looking forward to celebrating the late founder Jodie McRae's favourite time of the year.
"(She) absolutely loved Christmas,” he said. "Jodie's idea for this event was for it to be a family event that celebrated all that is good about Christmas.”
He said the event would feature traditional carols and activities, such as the Christmas Ham Wheel.
"There's also food vendors and we're going to be drawing our major raffle for 2016, so someone will walk away with a cruise out of Brisbane in April,” Mr Smith said.
Santa Claus made an appearance on Friday for a photoshoot and interview in the lead up to the carols.
"I'm very busy at this time of year, but very excited about coming to Caniaba on Sunday,” Santa said.
"I'll be introduced on stage, then I'll leave the stage and sit at my Santa chair with my helpers handing out lollies to all the boys and girls.”
He offered a reminder to Lismore families to finish getting ready for Christmas day.
"I hope everyone has their big Christmas trees up with their big stars, so Rudolph can find them and we can drop all their lovely presents to them,” Santa said.
Carols at Caniaba will be held at the Adam Gilchrest Oval at the Perradenya Estate this Sunday from 4pm.
The carols will kick off at 5.30pm and the fireworks display is from 8.45pm.
To get there, head towards South Lismore and take the Bruxner Highway past Bunnings and past the airport. Turn right onto Caniaba Rd, and in about 5km turn right at the roundabout onto Fredericks Rd.
Drive along until you hit Perradenya Way, turn left, and the oval will be on the right.
