Christmas carnival thrills Lismore crowd

LISMORE was abuzz with Christmas cheer yesterday as the Lismore City Christmas Carnival took over Magellan Street.

The street became a pedestrian precinct for the afternoon to make way for Father Christmas, who swept in with an ample stomach stuffed into his red and white suit and plenty of jolly ho-ho-ho'ing.

Children were also given the thrill of getting up close and personal to a fire truck from the Lismore Fire Station.

A good-sized crowd took advantage of the extended trading hours offered by some retailers in the CBD to do a spot of Christmas shopping.

The carnival has become an annual event on the Lismore Christmas calendar, sponsored by Lismore Chamber of Commerce and The Northern Star.
