Search for missing man

THE Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been called back to base after an unsuccesful aerial search to find a missing 74-year-old male lost in bushland in the Buccarumbi area.

The search commenced on Monday at 5pm after the man failed to return to a rendezous point.

Police hold grave fears for the man's safety given he has a reported heart condition.

The helicopter searched bushland north-west of Glenreagh earlier this afternoon and was unable to find any sight of the lost bushwalker.

The Rural Fire Service crews are also involved in a ground search which is centred on an area of bushland, 32 kilometres south-east of Grafton.

More details will be released when they come to hand.
