Choir lends voice to orchestra’s birthday celebration gig
A 50-VOICE community choir will join our region's orchestra in song this weekend to celebrate the 10th birthday of Lismore Symphony Orchestra.
The program comprises a selection of works performed during the orchestra's first 10 years and will recreate Mozart's Requiem, played at the group's debut performance at St Andrew's Anglican Church in 2004.
Other highlights will include Handel's Messiah, The Hallelujah Chorus; John Williams' Hymn to the Fallen from Saving Private Ryan, Bizet's Carmen Suite, Confutatis, Lacrymosa, and Finlandia by Sibelius.
Lismore Symphony Orchestra is an orchestra of the community, with players from throughout the region covering a multitude of careers from professional musicians and teachers to nurses, doctors, carpenters, farmers and retirees.
The gala performances will be held at Lismore City Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 2pm.
