Child porn offender wants a job in TV industry

A SERIAL child porn offender busted using the State Library's wi-fi to share pictures of children says he wants to get a job in the television industry and join a cat society if he is released next year.

In 2011, Stephen Anthony Black was arrested while on his laptop at the State Library of Queensland and charged with possessing child pornography, as well as using a carriage service to access and distribute the material.

The 41-year-old, who was sentenced in May 2013, is due to finish his term at the Wolston Correctional Facility on February 16.

However lawyers for the Queensland Attorney-General fear Black is a serious danger to the community and will apply for a court order to keep him incarcerated for an "indefinite term".

Black's criminal history spans three decades, and includes driving and armed robbery offences as well as five child pornography convictions in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland since 1999.
