Child abuse under lens

GYMPIE'S Sovereign Cinema has thrown its support behind a Sunshine Coast film project that tackles the topic of child abuse.

Chris Sun, director and writer of the upcoming film, Daddy's Little Girl, is inspired by the support and interest in the production of his latest project.

Daddy's Little Girl will be a completely Australian-made film, with the majority of the 25 crew and 200-plus cast members hailing from the Sunshine Coast and greater Brisbane area.

In a recent short video, Chris provided a brief introduction to the film and some insight into why the story means so much to him.

"I have four beautiful children and I wanted to make people aware that 80% of child abduction or pedophile cases are done by somebody that we know, somebody that is close to the family or a family member," Chris said.

Daddy's Little Girl is a story about a single father, his bond with his six-year-old daughter and his response to the most heinous of crimes.

Daddy's Little Girl aims to pose the question, if you had the choice, what would you do and what are the possible consequences of those decisions?

Chris and the Daddy's Little Girl team have successfully raised $79,000 of the $104,000 needed for the pivotal project.

For the final $25,000, the production team has begun an Indie Go Go campaign (found at www.indiegogo.com/Daddys-Little-Girl-2) and invites everyone to support the film and help make it areality.

Chris's personal video appeal can also be found on the Daddy's Little Girl Facebook page and YouTube.

Filming is scheduled to begin on the February 6. The film is influenced by actual events.
