Charity golf day for helicopter

A CHARITY golf day will be held at the Ballina Golf Club on Friday, November 16, to raise much-needed funds for a vital rescue service.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter and Yellow Pages are calling for people to get involved with the event.

Coordinator Krystal Cox said it is a great way for business people to enjoy a relaxed round of golf while helping the helicopter.

"The service commenced in Ballina 30 years ago this December," she said.

"The businesses and the community sectors have been very supportive of the rescue helicopter over the years.

"Saving lives doesn't come cheap though, and fundraising events like this raise much needed funds for the community helirescue service and we expect to raise $10,000 from the golf day."

Registration for the 18-hole Ambrose competition is at 10.30am on the day.

For more information visit the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter's website or phone Ms Cox on 6627 4444.
