LISMORE golfer John Rixon has taken out the Richmond River Amateur Championship with rounds of 72 and 71 at the Lismore Workers Golf Club.

Rixon won by a shot from Chris Hawkins of Ballina (73-71) on a countback from Brenton Parrish of Lismore (70-74).

Luke Ryan (Lismore) won the 18-hole gross event on Friday with a course record round of 66 and Hawkins won the 18-hole gross on Saturday on a countback with his 71.

The Lismore Workers Easter Open 36-hole nett winner was Evan Josey (128) from Brett Franke (130 c/b) and Michael Wallis (130 c/b).

The 18-hole nett winner on Friday was Shane Costello (Lismore) with 65 c/b and on Saturday it was Evan Josey with 61.
