Roar end nearing for Theo
MICHAEL Theo's decorated Brisbane Roar stint is all but over, with the five-time A-League championship-winning goalkeeper at long odds to be offered a new deal by the club.
Theo, 37, has made just four appearances this season before succumbing to a finger injury.
His replacement, Jamie Young, has since been one of Brisbane's best performers, with his form set to earn him new deal.
However, Theo's Roar tenure, which started in 2010 and has included three titles, is coming to an end.
The former Melbourne Victory gloveman has been linked with a move to NPL Queensland outfit Olympic FC at the completion of the A-League season.
Theo already has a strong link with Olympic, holding a host of coaching clinics at the Yeronga-based club.
Theo's expected exit will be among a host of Roar departures at the end of the season, with 17 players coming off contract.
Talks will step up next month when incoming football director Pedj Radinovic starts working for the club.
While Theo and several other players won't be offered new contracts, it's understood the Roar have re-signed 20-year-old left back Connor O'Toole.
O'Toole has made 10 A-League appearances this season, starting eight times, and is seen as the long-term successor to Corey Brown, who is set to leave Brisbane to join Melbourne Victory next season.
