Challenge yourself for a million

HOW many times have you watched a television quiz show and got many of the answers right?

If only you had got on the show, you could have won big time.

Well, you have the chance to get a spot on Channel Nine's Millionaire Hotseat hosted by Eddie McGuire, with the chance to win $1,000,000, by taking part in a local fundraising event. It's a trivial pursuit that will help kids.

The Northern Rivers 2012 Great Trivia Challenge is supporting Lennox Head man Terry Phyllis's $8000 entry into the Paris marathon on April 15, which will all go to ChildFund Australia to provide education to children in East Timor.

Ballina woman Lyndal Denny has got on board and helped organise the team's challenge, to be held over three Thursday nights in Ballina venues, starting on March 8 at the Ballina Golf and Sports Club.

Teams of 10 can enter the challenge and nominate to be in one of 14 categories, such as sporting club, church group, school group or service club.

After the three consecutive trivia nights, the top teams from each category nominate one person to be their representative for the final, to be held at the Ballina Golf and Sports Club on March 29.

The winner of that last event will be given return airfares to go to Melbourne and complete the final audition for the television game show, skipping the casting sessions.

Cost to enter is $5 per person, per night, or $50 per team, per night.

Registrations forms are available at the Ballina RSL Club, Cherry St Sports Club and the Ballina Golf and Sports Club or at the Ballina office of Wesley Uniting Employment in the Lincraft Centre, Tamar St.

Registrations close on Tuesday, March 6.
