Casino win a birthday bonus

BRISBANE jockey Shaun Bayliss celebrated his birthday in style when he rode six-year-old mare Time Slips By ($6) to victory in the Coraki Cup Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) at the Casino Racing Club on Saturday.

It was the first time the 34-year-old had raced at Casino.

"It was a good birthday present," Bayliss said.

"I had a good walk around the course before the race and I was lucky to get a few tips along the way.

"I knew she had good stamina and was confident when we came out of the barrier."

It was the first time Gatton trainer Ben Robinson had raced the mare in Casino.

"Its past few starts have been at Ipswich and I thought she would race well at Casino," Bayliss said.

"Her pace was right on and once we straightened I asked her for a bit.

"She held strong and went on to win by a good length."

The next Northern Rivers race meeting is a TAB program at Ballina on Saturday.
