Casino takes the lead in lighting up for France.

FROM the Eiffel tower, to the Sydney Opera House, to Casino's water tower - the whole world is lighting up its famous monuments in the colours of the French flag in solidarity for the people of Paris.

So far across the Northern Rivers, Richmond Valley Council led the sentiment as the only council to take the initiative to light up one of its monuments.

But what if each council in the region opted to follow their lead?

Just which local landmarks would we choose to light up in the red white and blue?

There are a few obvious ones, but we're going to leave it up to readers to decide - so please let us know so we can compile the most popular suggestions.

Also, do you think lighting up monuments is worth doing, or is it an empty gesture?

Are we doing the right thing in honouring the Paris victims or are we making the French an exception when so many around the world are dying in terrorist incidents, notably Lebanon and Iraq and Somalia in the last two weeks.
