Casino set to go Mental As Anything

MENTAL As Anything have announced the next chapter in their career with a new single, Shake Off Your Sandals, under a new music deal.

They have been on stages, radio airwaves, record books, playlists, TV screens and awards nights for close to 40 years.

Boasting 12 albums between 1979 and 2009, Mental As Anything's contribution to the Australian music landscape was formally recognised in 2009 with their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

Closing in on their 40th anniversary in 2017, Shake Off Your Sandals was released late last year under a new partnership with Universal Music Australia.

The new deal covers both their cherished back catalogue and new material.

Shake Off Your Sandals, a pop classic with a distinct Mentals twist, is the first in what will be a regular suite of singles.

There will be a new Mental As Anything song every five months - a release cycle the band followed at the genesis of their career.

Also, five of the Mentals' most cherished albums - Get Wet, Cats & Dogs, Fundamental as Anything, Mouth to Mouth and Liar Liar Pants on Fire - were re-issued in a five-album set in December.

Keyboard player Andrew 'Greedy' Smith said he and guitarist Martin Plaza were excited about this next step.

"We are excited Universal are relaunching the Mentals across the physical and digital divide," he said.

"In the studio, with producer engineer Steve James, we will pump out a new single every five months.

"No new album for us, just singles."

Mental As Anything at the Casino RSM on Friday, March 25, supported by The Bounty Hunters.
