Casino schools rock at eisteddfod

TWO Casino schools have earned gongs in the J Rock 2011 Rock Eisteddfod Challenge in Brisbane.

Organisers said students from Casino Public School used a soundtrack that captured the audience in their performance ‘There’s No Place Like Home’. The students performed a dynamic piece exploring the idea that being home is knowing your mind, knowing your heart and knowing your courage.

Casino West Public School also earned honours for the way they used the stage, the concept behind their performance and set design.

Production Judge, Anatoly Frusin, described the evening as “entertaining and very impressive” while Event Manager, Alice Larmer, said “the performances were sensational and the students were fantastic all day”.

“J Rock is becoming an absolute star attraction,” Ms Larmer said.

“These primary school students are so incredibly talented they would give the high school students a run for their money”.
