Casino robbery suspect arrested
A MAN suspected of staging a daring armed hold up at Casino has been arrested in Queensland.
Detectives from the Richmond Local Area Command travelled to Gympie on Friday where they interviewed a 21-year-old man about an armed robbery at the Casino branch of the Summerland Credit Union last month.
The hold-up occurred during the early days of Beef Week on May 23.
During questioning, the man, who is in police custody in Queensland, made admissions in relation to committing both the robberies of Summerland Credit Union in Casino and also the Tweed Cash Shop at Tweed Heads last week.
The 21-year-old is being held in Queensland for similar offences.
Police anticipate when the man is released from Queensland custody, an application will be made to extradite him to NSW for his arrest and charging.
