Casino park development plan

A PROPOSAL by nine sporting organisations to develop Casino's Queen Elizabeth Park as a regional sporting facility has received in-principle support from Richmond Valley Council.

The sporting groups - Casino soccer, junior cricket, cricket, senior rugby league, junior league, OZ Tag, rugby, greyhound racing and archery - have developed a draft master plan for the redevelopment of the Queen Elizabeth Park complex.

Under the draft plan the sporting groups would share facilities, giving them greater power to lobby council for funds.

The draft plan provides for the construction of a large new stadium with lights, plus a grandstand with a canteen and change room facilities.

The council at its monthly meeting last week, resolved to form a working party to flesh out the concept plan in more detail, and undertake a feasibility study of the proposal.
