Casino needs a market but on Saturday this time

HELEN Johnson wants the markets back in Casino and is prepared to organise it herself.

"We used to have them every Thursday," Ms Johnson said at the old bowling club site in Richmond St where the markets would be held.

Saturday is better suited to people who work and for families, she said.

The plan is to hold a market on the second Saturday of each month from 8am until midday.

Stalls will cost $10 and stallholders can sell what they like.

"People can bring new and used products as long as its not rubbish," she said.

Ms Johnson was keen to see artists, crafts, fruit and vegetables and a coffee cart at the market.

She has her own stall where she will sell new and used items, tablecloths, jams and pickles. She already does the Coraki and new Kyogle markets.

She is doing it on her own, she said and is determined to get the markets happening again.

"Every town has a market except Casino," she said.
