Casino man allegedly plots Christmas murder spree

A CASINO man will appear before the Lismore Local Court on Christmas morning after allegedly threatening to kill random women on a crime-spree in Casino until he was killed by police.

Police allege that a 48-year-old Casino man contacted an ex-partner on Friday by SMS and threatened to kill women in Casino at random on Christmas Day with a knife until he was killed by a police officer.

Senior Constable David Henderson said police attended a Casino address and arrested the man who allegedly made threats to kill a member of his own family.

He has then also allegedly made specific threats to kill a Casino male police officer and harm the officer's family.

The man was refused bail by police and was charged with two counts of intimidation and one count of intimidate police.

"This is one of the most vile incidents I has come across in my 15 years on the force, this incident gave me a real chill,” Senior Constable David Henderson said.

"The man allegedly sent his ex-partner a threatening text on Friday and allegedly made a threat to go and kill as many random women in Casino on Christmas Day until he was killed by police.”

Snr Constable Henderson said the man was arrested by Casino Police and then taken Lismore Police Station where he was bail refused.

"When in the cells there made threats to kill one of the Casino officers who arrested him and harm the officer's family,” he said.

"The man who is known to police is not in breach of apprehended violence order charge.”

He is expected to go before the Lismore courts on Christmas Day at 9.30am.

Also before the court today, a 33-year old Lismore man will appear regarding an alleged stolen police badge and possessing restricted substances .

Another has man arrested via Strike Force Cuppa and will also appear on drug related charges.

Two mean will also appear on bail related charges.
