Casino get boxers back in the ring

THE Casino Boxing Club will hold their annual May amateur tournament tonight at the Casino RSM.

Former Casino boxer, Dan Beverly, now fighting out of Dorrigo, features in the main bout of the night when he tackles Elliot Balk from Murwillumbah.

Balk was impressive in March after stopping Ballina’s Luke Hall at Condong.

And with the nuggetty Beverly’s fights never dull, the bout shapes up as a real crowd-pleaser.

Five Casino boxers – Luke and Daniel Allan, Daniel Preese, Jonathon Walker and Aaron Schaffer – will take on fighters from as far as Tweed Heads and Port Macquarie.

Casino’s very own ‘Cowboy’, former world No 1 lightweight, Justin Rowsell, will lend his experience on the night as an assistant to Kenny Whitton with the Casino team.

The first fight is scheduled to start at 7.30pm tonight.
