Casino Cavaliers dominate final

THE Casino Cavaliers dominated the Far North Coast LJ Hooker League cricket final against Marist Brothers at the weekend, clinching their fourth premiership and their second in three seasons.

The Cavaliers (248) defeated Brothers (138) at Queen Elizabeth Park, Casino, with NSW Country representative batsman Sam Irvine (72) and captain and opening bowlerAl Nowlan (5-32) leading the way.

Victory in the final completed a memorable season for the Cavaliers, who had already taken out the one-day title in February.

It was a tough weekend for the young Brothers outfit, which had surprised many pundits by eliminating the defending premiers Ballina Bears the previous weekend.
