Casino cattle report: Yarding increase of 340 head
THERE was a larger yarding of 1644 head an increase of 340 head.
Around 1200 head of young cattle were sold, consisting of a good supply of medium weight vealers and a fair number of heavy vealers and yearlings, while there were a few less light vealers.
Quality of the young cattle was good, with mainly well finished cattle offered, although there were some plain cattle through the sale.
The vealer market improved by 10c for the light weights, topping at 300c, while medium weight vealers were 10c to 15c dearer to average around 307c/kg.
Heavy vealers sold to a top of 314c, while trade yearlings topped at 320c to be 10c/kg dearer.
Restockers were active in the market to sell firm to 10c dearer, topping at 398.2c/kg.
The yarding of cows consisted of a good supply of medium and heavy weights, with several pens of high yielding cows through the sale.
The market was easier, with light and medium weight cows selling 8c to 10c cheaper, however heavy cows were up to 20c/kg cheaper.
Medium weight cows averaged around 230c, while heavy weights sold to a top of 250c/kg.
