Cash-back for power bills

THOUSANDS of Northern Rivers families are able to get some money back on their electricity bills through a State Government rebate, Lismore MP Thomas George has said.

Mr George said the rebate was currently set at $75 for households receiving Family Tax Benefit A or B, but would rise to $125 from July 1. Next year it was expected to rise to $150..

"If also eligible to receive the Low Income Household Rebate, households could be saving up to $250 off their electricity bill," he said.

"This will provide welcome relief to those who are struggling to manage electricity bills.

"The money is there, the funding for assistance is available and so I urge eligible families to submit their application for the 2012/13 financial year before the 14 June deadline."

If you are not getting the rebate, you can apply online or download a printable form you can fill in. The government advises the online form only takes a few minutes to fill out.
