Fishers pull 345kg of carp from river in annual muster

THE Casino RSM Social Fishing Club annual carp muster attracted 100 anglers who caught a total of 345kg of the invasive river pest.

Damien Mitchell won the biggest catch award with a carp weighing 4.8kg, and Daman Mitchell took out the junior ward after bagging a 3.46kg fish.

All up, 289 fish were pulled from the river with a combined weight of 345.86kg.

A southerly wind hampered the event's catch but registered anglers reported seeing thousands of carp in the local river system, organiser Laurie Benn said.
