Carols beside the river a very successful move

CROWDS poured into Riverside Park in Lismore last night for the annual Carols by Candlelight.

It was the first time the event had been held near the CBD, shifting from its usual location at Southern Cross University.

The move proved to be a resounding success, as many families were able to walk to the park after spending time at the Christmas Carnival in Magellan Street.

The new location was also a great spot to unpack a picnic and take in a lovely view of the river.

The sing-a-long included plenty of traditional favourites, including Silent Night and The Little Drummer Boy, but also some Aussie classics such as Six White Boomers, Gum Trees and 65 Roses by the Wolverines, who travelled from Sydney to perform.

Funds raised through the sale of glow sticks went towards driver education organisation Southern Cross LADS.
