CareFlight airlifts baby

THE RACQ CareFlight rescue helicopter airlifted a six-month-old baby with severe respiratory distress about 11am today.

Air Crewman John Anderson said the baby was having difficulty breathing.

"We picked up a paediatric team from the Mater Children's Hospital and flew them to Lismore to treat the baby.

"We then flew the patient and the paediatric team back to the Mater Hospital," he said.

"The baby was in a stable condition throughout the airlift."
