Car fire causes lengthy traffic delays on Pacific Highway

A CAR fire on the Pacific Highway southbound near Billinudgel has caused lengthy traffic delays this morning.

Live Traffic NSW has flagged the hazard which is causing 1.5km traffic cues on the highway near Middle Pocket Rd.

It says emergency services are in attendance including fire and rescue and Roads and Maritime Services.

Jane Bansgrove, who was driving from Tweed Heads to Goonellabah this morning, said there were “clouds of smoke” visible from the car fire causing the traffic delays.

“There was a big husk of smoke and the traffic was at a standstill.”

She said she was stuck in traffic for at least 15 minutes as a result of the car fire.
