Couple flown to Brisbane after car crashes into house
12.30pm: AN ELDERLY couple have been flown straight to Brisbane after their car ploughed into a house at Southgate this morning.
Police said the couple's Toyota Yaris was second in a line of three cars heading toward Grafton going around the bend just off the Tarrant Bridge.
Inspector Murray Gillett said it appeared car three attempted to overtake the two cars in front, then car two attempted to overtake.
He said it seemed cars two and three clipped each other and car two speared off to the left, crashing through a farm fence, smashing through a section of cyclone fence surrounding the house before slamming into the brick corner pylon of the raised house.
Home owner Sue Webster was inside and heard the crash and felt the thump of the vehicle hitting the house.
Her partner, John McCaffery, was on the property and also heard the crash.
He said by the time he arrived at the scene there were several people from the other cars at the scene.
Inspector Gillett said there were no details of the elderly couple's identity or their injuries, as yet.
