Capsicum spray confiscated

A SMALL aerosol can of capsicum spray was confiscated from a German woman yesterday as she tried to board a flight at Ballina airport.

Police said at about 10.30am yesterday a woman was passing through security before boarding a Jetstar flight to Melbourne.

As she attempted to clear security a small aerosol can was found in her luggage.

When security staff studied the can they found that was a small can of capsicum or OC spray.

After confiscating the spray, airport security staff contacted Ballina police.

The German woman told police she purchased the OC spray in her home country and always carries it with her in Germany.

Police explained to the woman that it was an offence to carry OC spray in NSW.
