Canberrans too strong for Woodlawn

CRICKET: Woodlawn has lost to Catholic Marist College Canberra at the Australasian Marist Cricket Carnival yesterday.

Team manager Geoff Gaggin said the team lost the toss and were sent into bat by Canberra.

“Opener Dain Moreton was top scorer with 36 and Ben Cooper scored a quick-fire 32 from 18,” Gaggin said. “At one stage we were 2-72 but were dismissed for 109.”

Cooper and Lachlan Waugh both took wickets in Canberra’s innings, but Canberra proved too strong, scoring 111 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Tomorrow, Woodlawn will take on Mewman College Perth, which Gaggin said would be a tough game.
